2024 Robert T. Hughes Memorial Awardee

The Robert T. Hughes Memorial Award was founded in 2015 to honor Mr. Hughes, who passed away in late 2014. Robert T. “Bob” Hughes joined the ACGIH Industrial Ventilation Committee in 1976. He served as its Chairperson for 11 years before stepping down in 2001, though he remained dedicated and active on the Committee until his death. This award was established by the ACGIH Board of Directors to recognize outstanding individuals in the field of industrial ventilation. The 2024 Robert T. Hughes Memorial Award recipient is Jonathan F. Hale, MPA.

Jonathan F. Hale, MPA is President of Air Systems Corporation with over 43 years of experience in the design, worker exposure, installation, governmental regulation of dust control and industrial ventilation systems, energy management and air system analysis projects. Mr. Hale has also worked as an EPA inspector and permits engineer. He is the winner of two national level ASHRAE awards for excellence in energy efficient design of industrial ventilation systems and is the co-chair of the North Carolina Industrial Ventilation Conference. He is the 2022 Meritorious Achievement Awardee. Mr. Hale obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Wake Forest University and a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from Appalachian State University.
